NAME: Terri-Sian Lugosi JOB TITLES: Managing Director/ Head Booker (BHA) Event Control (Select Security and Stewarding) Various Production Roles across festivals such as C2C, Stone Free and TGE. Promoter Rep (Glasswerk, Kilimanjaro, LOUT) Project Manager (Joe Plant)

WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED WHILST BUILDING YOUR CAREER? My confidence is a huge challenge and something I am continually working on! Also, being a woman in a very male-dominated industry is always interesting... I quite often have artists approach my partner assuming he is me.

WHAT CORE SKILLS ARE PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO HAVE, AS A PERSON WORKING IN THE LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY? Being organised is extremely important, especially as a self-employed individual working many different roles and I think it's also important to be approachable and able to remain quite fluid with the skills you do have as you don't know what opportunities you may be offered. ARE THERE ANY COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT WORK IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY? Artists often forget that there is more to being in a band than just creating music. It's actually all about the PR!

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU'RE BOOKING AN ARTIST? First of all, I need to like it. I need to believe in the artists I'm putting out there. I look at social media/ websites to see what kind of buzz is happening. You need to be able to sell tickets and already have a history of successful shows. You must be organised and have a plan!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST FAVOURITE SHOW TO WORK ON? Cancer Bats @ The Haunt, Brighton.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST FAVOURITE VENUE TO WORK IN? Indigo2, O2 Arena

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN MOSTLY LISTENING TO THIS WEEK? Lizzo's new album!

The BossWitch

NAME: Wilf Holyoak JOB TITLE: Intern (BHA) Promoter/Artist Manager (Ban The Disco)

HOW DID YOU BREAK INTO THE INDUSTRY? Interning and losing money by running too many gigs! Also a lot of introducing myself to people I only knew from Facebook activity and from asking about who runs what.

WHAT CORE SKILLS ARE PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO HAVE, AS A PERSON WORKING IN THE LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY? Being sure of what job you’re doing and also what everyone else around you is doing to make sure the show actually happens.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO MAKE MUSIC THEIR CAREER? Be as useful as possible and be friends with everyone, you never know when the next paycheck is coming or who from

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST FAVOURITE SHOW TO WORK ON? I recently ran an acoustic show in a lovely pub (Brighton Rocks) for a bunch of loud, shouting punk bands - they all brought a unique spin on their sounds.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST FAVOURITE VENUE TO WORK IN? Running shows at The Hope & Ruin gives me a good excuse to go there for dinner, also they have some of the best sound techs in the city.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN MOSTLY LISTENING TO THIS WEEK? I’ve been listening to Dune Rats a lot this week, really disappointed that the show they’re doing in Brighton in June isn’t called June Rats. I’ve also just listened to Fat White Family’s new album, Serf’s Up and it’s blown me away.
